Admissions

Admissions Arrangements

As an academy, Christ Church manages its own admissions but does so in line with the Kent Common Application System. Extracts of the KCC guidance are outlined below.

When your child is three or four years old, you will need to start thinking about which primary school you would like your child to go to.

By law, children have to start school by the beginning of the school term after their fifth birthday (this is when they reach compulsory school age). However, you may want your child to start earlier than that. All Kent schools will take children from four years old.

A school year runs from September in one calendar year to August in the next, so children who will reach compulsory school age during the school year 2026/27 are those born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023.

Applying for In Year Admissions

The term in year admissions describes the process when a child moves from one school to another at the start of any year other than reception or moves school in mid year.

If you wish to apply for an in year admission please contact the school office as we manage this process ourselves.

Admissions Appeals

If your child is due to start primary school in September 2026, you can appeal if you are refused a place at one of your preferred schools on National Offer Day (Thursday 16 April 2026).

You must submit your appeal before Monday 18 May 2026 for it to be considered by Monday 20 July 2026. Any appeals received after this time will be heard within 40 school days from the deadline, or where reasonably possible in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education.

For late applications, appeals should be heard within 40 school days from the deadline for lodging appeals where possible, or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged where reasonably possible in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education.
