Behaviour Policy Addendum

16th Jun 2020

“It is important for schools to be calm and disciplined environments, where everyone follows the rules.”

BEHAVIOUR POLICY ADDENDUM

In response to Covid-19

Based on government advice accessed on 16th June 2020 from https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-school-closures/guidance-for-schools-about-temporarily-closing#behaviour-and-exclusions

At Christ Church CEP Academy, we acknowledge the threat that the covid-19 global pandemic has had and continues to have on the safety and wellbeing of our pupils and staff; minimising the risk to these remains our top priority.

As such this addendum has been issued to provide clarity to all members of our community in regards to the management of dangerous behaviour.

It has become necessary for the academy to implement a vast array of changes to the physical layout of the buildings and the structure and timings of the day in order to reduce risk of covid-19 transmission. Therefore our pupils are having to learn a new set of expectations. In order to keep everyone safe these expectations are rigid and allow for very little flexibility.

  • If a pupil behaves in such a way that contradicts these expectations, then parents will be asked to collect them immediately from school. Such behaviours may include: running off from adults, spitting, hurting peers, persistently failing to follow instructions or behaving in any other way that may put themselves or others at risk.
  • They will be asked to stay at home for the rest of the day before being welcomed back in their pod the next day.
  • In the event that a pupil is sent home on three occasions then their place in the pod will be withdrawn and offered to the next child on the waiting list.

At Christ Church CEP Academy we will continue to focus on positive reinforcement and praise to reward the pupils who are striving to be the best version of themselves using both pre-existing reward systems and any other additional motivational measures put in place by staff in the pods.
