Viking Feast

9th Dec 2016

Today we enjoyed a hearty Viking feast, complete with games and a Viking Saga. Throughout the morning, the children of Year 4 spent their maths lesson weighing their ingredients and helping to prepare the food for the Viking banquet. The menu consisted of: a starter of creamy mushroom soup, a main of pea and ham broth with a spiced oat cake, followed by a pudding of baked apple and spices. A fantastic turn out by parents, family and friends of our year 4 pupils led to a hearty atmosphere. After the food and revelry, we were treated to a spellbinding retelling of the Viking Saga 'Beowulf'. Please see the photos from our gallery that captured the day's events. A big thank you to all the adults who helped to make this event happen.

A guest book was left on each table and this is what some of the children and parents had to say:

'What a lovely activity. I think the games were great and we enjoyed playing them. To capture the imagination of the children and to allow parents to join in was fabulous. The hard work that went into it could be seen. Well done.'

'The food was very tasty. I liked the main course the best. You're a very talented cook and it would be nice to do something like this again with different foods to try.  Thank you for having us today.' (Marie, Paige and Rosie)

'Very much enjoyed the Viking feast today. Could of lived like a Viking very easily. Baked pears were lovely!'

'Thank you for an enjoyable meal. I would love the recipes especially the ham and peas. My compliments to the chefs.'  Mr Britnell.
