Mapping the future-5J design the Rio Games.

Mapping the future-5J design the Rio Games.

As part of our pupil led topic, class 5J, have chosen to study Brazil and the Olympic movement. Their first task of the topic was to design their own Olympic Park to host the Rio Games. The next task was to create a mascot/logo that represented the values of their design and finally give a speech explaining why their design should be chosen. There was little adult input in these tasks as the children were encouraged to work in small groups (of three) so they would develop core BLP/ life long skills such as: collaboration, independence, making links, planning and leadership. What impressed the adults most were the children's thoughts on how the park would be used for; 'social housing, a theme park, new schools, business district and other re-development projects' so a legacy would be built long after the games had finished. Please take a look at the gallery to see samples of their work.
