Democracy

19th May 2016

Every now and then we have a chance to learn about British Values at school.  Recently the children were given the opportunity to choose a topic that they would like to learn about next term.  They all thought of different ideas and, in true democratic style, we had a vote to see which one was most popular.  There were some interesting ideas but the most popular one (closely followed by Minecraft) was The Queen.

The children have also used their democratic skills recently in PE when we were thinking about the best way to carry out an activity.  Rather than telling the children what to do they were given the chance to decide for themselves.  Children in small groups of 5 and 6 decided (without being prompted) to vote for the most popular choice in their group.  It was a proud moment as it shows that they are really growing up and learning how to respect each others views without arguments.
