Welcome to class 3AJ's webpage. This is the central hub to find out what your child is learning each term, class routines, key information and a gallery of photos and news.

Each morning the class will be open for registration between 8:30-8:45 please ensure that your child arrives promptly so they do not miss out on any information shared during this time.

Monday: Please ensure that your child has a school issued PE kit- consisting of dark navy T-shirt, shorts and black plimsolls. This term we are studying Handball.

Thursday: Swimming will be taught to pupils in alternating terms. So pupils in Group 1 will swim in terms 1, 3 and 5. Therefore, Group 2 pupils will swim in terms 2,4 and 6. If your child has forgotten their group number we will be happy to advise you.

This term we are reading The Green Ship by Quentin Blake, this text will support our English lessons and writing tasks will be based upon events within the novel. GPS (Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling) sessions will be held each morning prior to English lessons so children can learn then apply taught skills within their own written work.

Maths is taught each afternoon, with a particular emphasis on developing mathematical fluency. This term we are focusing on developing pupils' rapid recall of number bonds (complements) to 10, 20 and 100 as well as recall of multiplication facts for the x2, x3, x4 x5, x6, x8 and x10 times tables.  Please see link below for helpful sites to support your child in achieving these targets.

Supporting your child at home

Homework will be routinely set each week and will be handed out every Friday. Typically, homework will consist of maths, spelling and occasionally additional work e.g. handwriting, GPS or topic if it is deemed necessary that your child requires additional practise. Completed homework must be returned the following Thursday so it can be marked.

In addition to the weekly spelling and maths homework, please ensure that your child routinely reads at home with an adult. We recommend 10 minutes supported reading,  four or five times a week. Your child has been issued with their own reading record book so you can log each time they read, add any comments and notify us when their book requires changing.

Please see this site below for ideas of how to help at home.

We have signed our pupils up to the following sites to support their learning in maths and reading accordingly. Each pupil has a specific log in so they can access these sites. These have already been distributed however, if your child has lost their log in pass then please ask us for another.
